Telangana: Husband burns pregnant wife, 5-year-old daughter alive
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a farmer, who wanted a male child, burnt his pregnant wife and their six-year-old daughter alive in Yadadri district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Banoth Savitri, 26, and her elder daughter Sridevi, 6.
According to police, Savitri was married to Banoth Shankar Naik, a farmer residing in Raavipadu Tanda in Bibinagar mandal in the district. Two years after marriage, Shankar became addicted to alcohol and started harassing Savitri. She gave birth to two girls, now aged 6 and 5.
She is now pregnant with the third child.
Shankar, who suspected that the third child will also be a girl, started harassing her physically and mentally.
On Monday night, he came home heavily drunk and picked up a fight with her. Later, Savitri and the elder daughter slept together, while the younger one slept with him.
Around 2 am, Shankar poured Kerosene on the mother and his elder daughter and set them ablaze.
Both died on the spot, while Shankar fled away. Police registered a murder case.
