Houses adjourned for the day after obituary references
New Delhi: The monsoon session of Parliament got underway on Monday and both Houses were adjourned for the day after obituary references to Vinod Khanna and Anil Dave.
Proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day after paying tributes to sitting and some former members who passed away recently. As the House met on the first day of the monsoon session, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and Indian Union Muslim League leader P.K. Kunhalikutty took oath as members of Lok Sabha. Actor-politician Khanna, who was a Lok Sabha member from Gurdaspur, died in April at the age of 70. Dave, Union minister for environment and forest, passed away in May.
Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha was also adjourned as a mark of respect to departed minister Dave and MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy.
