PM introduces new ministers in Lok Sabha, House adjourned

The house was adjourned after paying tributes to a sitting member and six former MPs who had passed way in the inter-session period.

 New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced his new ministers to the Lok Sabha on the first day of the Monsoon Session on Monday.

The Prime Minister had inducted 19 new faces in his Council of Ministers in the expansion which took place on July 5.

 

As per custom, Modi introduced his new colleagues in the government to the Lok Sabha on the first day of the session.

These included Prakash Javadekar, the new HRD minister, who has been elevated to the Cabinet rank.

Vijay Goel, Anil Madhav Dave, Faggan Singh Kulaste S S Ahluwalia, Ramdas Athawale, Ramesh Chandrappa, Rajen Gohain, Purushottam Rupala, M J Akbar, Jaswantsinh Sumanbhai Bhabhor, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Mahendranath Pande, Ajay Tamta Krishna Raj, Mansukh Mandavia, Anupriya Patel, C R Chaudhary P P Chaudhary and Subhash Ramrao Amre were among the new ministers of state and ministers of state with Independent charge introduced to the House.

 

Earlier, Conrad Kongkal Sangma, elected on National People's Party ticket from the Tura constituency in Meghalaya, took oath as member of the Lok Sabha.

The bypoll to the Tura seat was necessitated following the demise of veteran parliamentarian P A Sangma in March this year.

The house was later adjourned for the day after paying tributes to a sitting member and six former MPs who had passed way in the inter-session period.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan read out obituary references after which members stood in silence for a few moments.

 

On June 1, BJP member Dalpat Singh Paraste, representing the Shior constituency, had passed away in Gurgaon.

The former members who died recently were Prabhulal Rawat, Shakeelur Rehman, Pravin Rashtrapal (sitting Rajya Sabha member and a former Lok Sabha member), K Anirudhan, Rudra Madhab Ray and Neil Aloysius O'Brien.
