Chinna Jeeyar invites PM to unveil 216-feet statue
Hyderabad: Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar, who heads the Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Mutt, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Sunday and invited him to unveil the 216-feet metallic statue of philosopher-saint Ramanujacharya that was being put up to commemorate the 1,000th birth anniversary of the saint next year.
The statue coming up at Shamshabad and costing Rs 130 crore would be taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York by 65 feet. The seer was accompanied by city BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and My Home Group chairman Jupally Rameswar Rao.
Called the ‘Statue of Equality’, it will be installed adjacent to the Jiva Ashramam in Sri-ramnagar, Shamshabad, near Hyderabad, by the Jeeyar Educational Trust Vedic University.
“The Panchaloha (five-metal) statue of Ramanuja in a sitting posture with 108 Divya Desams (stone construction) around it is meant to deliver the message of equality that has been preached by the saint. The PM responded positively to our request,” the seer said.
