Exempt students from paying biometric fees, demands ABVP

In this difficult situation they are not in a position to pay fees

Karimnagar: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday demanded officials of Satavahana University to exempt students from paying biometric fees for the first semester as the university did not conduct any physical classes following the second wave of coronavirus.

ABVP district convenor, Naitham Mahesh, alleged that with the rapid spread of coronavirus, parents of many students are facing hardships without any livelihood or are not getting salaries.

In this difficult situation they are not in a position to pay fees. He ridiculed that rather than giving fee exemption, varsity officials issued examination time-tables in which they asked students to pay not only examination fees but also biometric fees.

In the absence of offline classes, how could students give biometric attendance, he wondered.

Later, ABVP city secretary Malial Rakesh, zonal in-charge Sai Charan and Sharath met the university registrar Bharath and submitted a memorandum to him.
