Trace missing husband in Saudi, woman urges Tiruchy collector

She has been going through mental agony for the last three years as she had not received any communication or money from her husband.

Tiruchy: A 40-year-old mother of two children hailing from Govindapuram village near Tiruchy appealed to the district collector to take steps to bring back her husband who had gone to Saudi Arabia for ‘cattle grazing work’ through private travel agents of Perambalur three years ago.

Stating that till today, she did not know the whereabouts of her husband Murugesan, the poor woman Ms Maheswari in her memorandum to Tiruchy collector Mr. S. Sivarasu, said she has been going through mental agony for the last three years as she had not received any communication or money from her husband for the last three years.

Members of the ‘Manithaneyaa Varthaga Nala Sangam’ led by their district president A. Kabeer Ahaamad in their memorandum to the collector pointed out that as platform dwellers in NSB road area for the past many years, they now faced eviction by the city corporation under ‘smart city’ project. They urged the collector to ask the corporation officials to allow the platform dwellers to continue their business and to protect their livelihood.

Members of “Thanneer”, an NGO seeking to protect groundwater and the environment, led by its secretary K.C. Neelamegam appealed to the district administration to desilt and renovate water bodies across the district.

They also wanted to convene the Uyyakondan canal protection committee meeting immediately to prevent seepage of drainage water into the canal. Collector S. Sivarasu assured all of them that he will look into their grievances.
