TPCC may not act against Rajagopal Reddy
Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is not in a position to take disciplinary action against strong leaders like Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy even though they criticise the leadership openly.
As in the past, when the party leadership limited itself to serving a notice on Mr Rajagopal Reddy earlier for speaking out, now too, the TPCC disciplinary action committee (DAC) met at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday and decided to serve a notice on him.
Even in order to do that, the TPCC decided to take the opinion of the high command. The DAC sent all the information and is waiting for the high command’s direction to proceed further. The TPCC takes immediate action again-st small leaders for small mistakes but dare not take action against leaders like Rajagopal Reddy, an observer said.
During the Telangana Assembly elections, the Congress MLA had criticised TPCC incharge R.C. Khuntia and TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy openly.
Taking serious note of his comments, the DAC had then written to him seeking an explanation about his remarks. Cong-ress leaders thought that Mr Rajagopal Reddy would be suspended, but the leadership ended the episode by merely serving him with a notice.
Now, Mr Rajagopal Reddy again has made serious comments against the Congress and praised the BJP. Mr Rajagopal Reddy said the Congress had no future in the state and that the BJP alone could be an alternative to the TRS in the state.
A senior TPCC leader said that the Congress would not suspend Rajagopal Reddy because that will make it easy for him to walk across to the BJP. If Mr Rajagopal Reddy does join the BJP, the Congress will seek his disqualification.
Rajagopal likely to join BJP, says VHR
AICC secretary and former MP V. Hanum-antha Rao alleged that Munugodu Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was planning to join the BJP to get contracts.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Mr Rao said that in Nalgo-nda district many lea-ders and workers had served the Congress but the party had given the Komatireddy family many opportunities.
He said Mr Rajagopal Reddy was given an Assembly ticket in spite of having a three-year term as MLC, his brother Komatireddy Venkata Reddy was given the Lok Sabha ticket and their brother Mohan Reddy brother was given the ZPTC ticket. Mr Rajagopal Reddy’s wife Lakshmi was given an MLC ticket.
