Telangana CS office will be shifted to burgula bhavan

The AP government will hand over its share of the Secretariat buildings to the Telangana state government on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi’s office is likely to be shifted to Burgula Ramakrishna Rao Bhavan (BRKR Bhav-an) opposite the Secreta-riat soon. The state government has decided to construct a new Secret-ariat at the place where the Secretariat, which currently houses Mr Joshi’s office, stands.

The AP government will hand over its share of the Secretariat buildings to the Telangana state government on Wednesday.

The initial plan was to occupy the buildings handed over by AP. The government later decided to shift all offices outside the premises, demolish the Secretariat buildings and come up with a new Secretariat in its place.

According to officials, the Secretariat departments and ministers chambers will be shifted to the department directorates or commissionarates. The Chief Secret-ary’s office will be shifted to BRKR Bhavan.

Officials said that the shifting of offices will be completed by the end of the month.

Sources said Mumbai-based Hafeez Contractor had submitted designs for the new Secretariat to CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao who suggested some changes which were duly incorporated.

Asked if Mr Rao would lay the foundation stone for the Secretariat by the end of the month, as was being speculated, an official of the Chief Minister’s Office said no date had been finalised.

Asked about the shifting of offices, a senior IAS official said, “We are hearing about shifting of departments but we have not received any orders.”
