State-run schools best, but parents unaware: Collector
Warangal: Warangal Rural district collector M. Haritha said that despite the government providing all the required facilities for students in state-run schools, people still do not have confidence in these institutions.
Ms Haritha was attending the Badi Bata programme where Aksharabhyasam was conducted at the Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) at Damera mandal headquarters on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, she said, “State-run schools have qualified teachers and good facilities, however, parents are interested in sending their children to private schools despite the hefty fees they have to shell out. People must remember that several eminent personalities studied in government schools. Students are provided free uniforms, textbooks and nutritious midday meals,” Haritha said. The collector appealed to citizens to patronise the state-run schools.
Referring to the success of SSC students this year, the collector lauded the teachers for achieving good results. As many as 60 schools achieved 100 per cent results in SSC with 14 students scoring 10/10 GPA.
Ms Haritha urged the teachers to take up the responsibility of creating awareness among parents to admit their children in government schools. Expressing confidence, she said, "With the kind of thrust being given to education, people will start to have confidence in the state-run schools soon."
She distributed books and other material to students. DEO Rajeev, Damera sarpanch Gurijala Sriram Reddy, MPP G. Mallikarjun, MPTC G. Kamala and ZPTC L. Sanjeeva Reddy were among others present.
