Ramesh Chennithala welcomes Khader committee report stay

Right from day one, the opposition had been demanding to shelve the report that it called \"half baked\".

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala welcomed Monday's High Court stay on Khadar committee report, maintaining that the state's decision to implement it was nothing but politically motivated.

The report recommends upgrading the professional qualification of teachers and bringing the school education sector under a single directorate.

Right from day one, the opposition had been demanding to shelve the report that it called "half baked".

"How can the LDF Government approve the Khadar committee report? It is nothing but suggestions of the CPM's Kerala School Teachers Association (KSTA) with a changed cover," he told reporters at the Assembly media room.

He also demanded more deliberations before implementing any recommendations of the report in haste.

He hoped that at least after the HC verdict, the government would act sensibly.
