Karimangar: As part of the nation-wide strike call given by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in protest against the attacks on two doctors and interns of NRS hospital and medical college of Kolkata, all hospitals including out-patient departments remained closed here in undivided Karimnagar district on Monday.
Participating in the strike, district president of the IMA, Dr. Ravi said that after completing their education, doctors face a lot of hardship.
Attacking them is a shameful act and the entire society must oppose and condemn the attacks on doctors.
Dr. Ravi said that doctors can provide better medical services in a peaceful atmosphere. With such types of incidents, there will be a gap between the doctor and the patient and good relationships between them will be affected.
It is the primary responsibility of both the state and Central governments to provide security to doctors who are in service. They must take necessary stringent action against those who attack doctors and medical staff for no reason.
The Central government must consider taking Act 11/2008 which is under implementation in Telangana state into the Central category and implement it across the country, he demanded.
Meanwhile, several patients faced a lot of hardship as medical services were halted in almost all hospitals in erstwhile Karimnagar district.
However, doctors of all government hospitals attended emergency medical services.
