213 new civil judges assume office
Chennai: A total of 213 newly recruited civil judges assumed office in Chennai on Monday. Administering oath to the newly appointed civil judges Madras high court judge, Dr. Justice Vineet Kothari advised them not to be subject to media trial during their carrier.
He said for the first time more than 200 persons are appointed as civil judges in the state. He advised them to take decision in dispute in an impartial manner. Justice Vineet Kothari has also inaugurated training session for them.
More than 8,600 persons applied for the post and 688 among them cleared preliminary examination. Among them 234 were shortlisted for interview and 213 were recruited as civil judge.
Justice S. Manikumar advised them to be impartial in the profession. He told them to consider themselves as judges only in the court and not in other places.
Justice M.M.Sundresh advised the civil judges to take decision in dispute without fear and decision must be taken based on merit of the cases. Greeting the newly appointed judges Justice T. S. Sivagnanam said every day the judges would face challenges.
Among others Advocate General Vijay Narayan and other judges have attended the programme. Family members of newly appointed judges also took part in the ceremony in Madras high court.
