Hyderabad: Autorickshaw driver Rayneeni Ravi of Karimnagar won his case against Abhinandan Motors at consumer forum. Mr Ravi had purchased a four-seater Bajaj Auto on June 3, 2016.
Ravi said he was not handed over his TR number and insurance papers. The vehicle was seized by RTA officials on June 17, 2016, and he was fined Rs 7,000.
Mr Ravi approached Abhinandan Motors wi-th the penalty receipt and demanded the registration papers as well as compensation for the penalty. The showroom gave him the papers but refused to pay the penalty.
His vehicle was seized for 25 days before he could collect the money to pay the fine. The showroom said that Mr Ravi had paid only Rs 15,000 against the requirement of Rs 19,000 and had not responded to se-veral calls to pay the difference and collect the papers. The forum stated that it was Abhinandan Motor’s responsibility to issue the TR and other papers.
The forum said Mr Ravi was at fault for driving the vehicle without obtaining the documents. The forum ordered Abhinandan Motors to pay Mr Ravi Rs 7,500 for loss of income and Rs 5,000 as costs.
