Japan body offers Rs 600 crore more for Outer Ring Road
Hyderabad: The Japan International Cooperation Agency has decided to extend additional financial assistance of around Rs 500 crore to the HMDA for the Outer Ring Road. The agency had given the HMDA 83.9 billion Japanese Yen (about Rs 4,882 crore at Sunday’s rates) in the form of development assistance ten years ago when the project was conceived.
Of the 160-km component, construction of nearly 71 km has been completed in two phases from Patancheru to Shamirpet and Shamirpet to Peddamberpet. The third phase has also been completed except for a 1.1-km stretch near Kandlakoya Junction.
A JICA delegation toured the city on June 14 and 15 to inspect stretches of the ORR that have been completed. They were reported to be satisfied with the execution of the project and offered additional assistance of around Rs 500 for ORR-related work.
