Hyderabad: 25 per cent crack test for teachers
Hyderabad: Only twenty five percent of candidates aiming to be government teachers (school assistants) cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test on Friday. Only about 63,000 of the 2.51 lakh applicants cleared the test.
The pass percentage slipped from 28.5 in the test held in 2014 by the the undivided AP government. Dasari Sharadavani from Karimnagar topped the maths and science categories, and T. Hari Babu from Hyderabad bagged the first position in Social Studies category.
Paper-1 (for secondary grade teachers) saw a pass percentage was 54.41. with Snehalatha Urati from Medak secured at the top.
Mr G. Kishan, commissioner and director, school education, said the way was clear for conducting teacher recruitment tests.
The Public Service Commission, which has been entrusted with the job of recruiting teachers, is likely to conduct these tests only after filling vacancies in residential schools of different departments.
