ENT Hospital in Hyderabad has 24 black fungus patients

Senior doctors at the ENT Hospital state that the patients have come with black fungus in the eyes, which is the stage 3 of the disease

Hyderabad: The Government ENT Hospital in Hyderabad has 24 patients in the special ward set up for treating the black fungus disease. The ward has 30 beds.

Some 20 patients were admitted on Monday from Hyderabad, Nizamabad and Siddipet districts. With the ENT hospital declared as a nodal centre, more patients from districts would come to the hospital for treatment of invasive fungal infections.

Senior doctors at the ENT Hospital state that the patients have come with black fungus in the eyes, which is the stage 3 of the disease. There will be a multi-disciplinary teams of ENT, eye and kidney specialists treating these patients.

The Telangana state medical services and the infrastructure development and corporation have procured amphotericin for use in ENT and Gandhi Hospital.

Stated a doctor, "The present vials would be utilised for patients in government hospitals. There are steps being taken for procuring more medicines."
