Telangana' bid to end gender gap is on

The participation of women as a wage earner is very less as compared to the average of developing countries which is at 42.3 per cent.

Hyderabad: The Telangana women welfare department is working on strict implementation of the sexual harassment of women and workplace (Prevention Prohibition and Redressal) Act.

According to a recently released world employment and social outlook report, 27.2 per cent of women accounts for the labour force participation when compared to 72.8 per cent of men which shows an alarming gap.

The participation of women as a wage earner is very less as compared to the average of developing countries which is at 42.3 per cent. Officials said they will build awareness regarding equal wage and a gender equitable workplace.

A series of “I will go out” campaigns will be held encouraging women to work and awareness will be raised about safety measures. More complaint mechanisms will be installed for female workforce.
