Fire breaks out at IDBI bank

The reason for the fire is not known yet. We have doused the flames after hours of firefighting.,” said a fire official.

Hyderabad: A fire which broke out inside a bank situated adjacent to the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate office on Thursday evening created mild panic among bank officials and locals in Basheerbagh area. Fire safety officials said no casualties were reported and two bank employees were rescued by firefighters.

Upon receiving the alert, 10 fire tenders, from Musheerabad, Narkal, Moula Ali, Secretariat, Assembly, Gowliguda, Malakpet and Film Nagar were sent to the spot to douse the fire.

The incident occured on the fifth floor of Mahavir House which houses the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) and some construction offices. Two of the bank stafer, Sapna Jain, 37, and Naveen, 40, were rescued.

“The reason for the fire is not known yet. We have doused the flames after hours of firefighting. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” said a fire official.
