Chennai: Tamil Nadu government is all set to transfer non-performing district collectors and district superintendents of police.
According to highly placed official sources, reports against a few errant officers have already reached the office of chief minister Edappadi Palanisami and the shunting out of officers is likely.
The transfers are now awaiting the clearance of state top brass. Of the total 32 district collectors, most of them are conferred and some of them are serving in the same district for more than three years.
Besides, there are also complaints against some district administrators that the drought situation, particularly in the western and southern districts, is not being handled efficiently.
Already discussions in this regard are underway at the secretariat and there are plans to infuse young blood in to the district administration set up. Among the universities Dr MGR Medical University and Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University are also now under the scanner of state officials, sources said.
In the wake of I-T department targeting state health department including the health minister Vijaya Bhaskar and Dr MGR Medical University Vice Chancellor Geetha Lakshmi, the state is also trying to weed out a few vice chancellors with dubious background and have also stalled extension prospects of serving academicians in the state.
At senior level, there are also a few officers who had opted for transfers from the portfolio they are currently handling. Health secretary J. Radhakrishnan is also willing to get transferred as he has been holding the tough post for more than four years.
The official known for his dynamism and administrative skills had also opined that he had been fire fighting against a litany of litigations in the court and forced to defend the negative publicity earned by a few administrators for their wrong doings.
