I-T will summon Karti Chidambaram soon, says CBI
New Delhi: A day after registering an FIR against Karti Chidambaram, son of former finance minister P. Chidambaram, on cheating and corruption charges, CBI sleuths on Wednesday sought clarifications pertaining to the documents seized during searches on Tuesday from representatives of the firms allegedly linked to Karti.
The agency maintained that it will soon issue summons to the accused, including Karti, for interrogation.
Sources said, “Formal interrogation of the accused will start from next week. The agency sleuths are scrutinising the documents recovered during searches.” The agency has also decided to send certain electronic devices recovered during searches for forensic examination, they added.
On Tuesday the CBI raided at the Chennai residence and other places linked to Mr Karti for allegedly receiving money from a media firm owned by Indrani and Peter Mukerjea to manipulate a tax probe against the firm in a case of violation of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) conditions in receiving investment from Mauritius.
