Hyderabad: The Falaknuma police have detained an MBA student who uploaded a video in which he fires a revolver into the air on his birthday and seized three revolvers from his house.

The police found that two licenced weapons belonged to his father and brother, who own and run Progress High School in the area. The youth, Mirza Ibrahim Ali Baig, claimed the third weapon is a dummy that only makes sound. All the three weapons have been sent to the forensic lab.

The youngster told the police that he just wanted to show off by firing the weapon and sharing the video with his friends on Facebook.

“During the investigation, we recovered three revolvers from the youth’s house. Two are licenced revolvers owned by his father Mirza Muhammad Ali Baig and his brother. The third weapon, Mirza claims, is a dummy that he purchased from the city. We have sent the weapons to the FSL to verify the claim. It is also being verified that if any shot was fired from the licensed weapons," said a senior official from Falaknuma.

The police booked a case against the youngster under the Arms Act for illegally using the weapon.

Police suspected that the youth was firing from his father’s pistol.

“We will take action against the owners of the firearms also. Their licence can be cancelled if it is found that they allowed others to misuse their weapons,” a senior official said, adding that weapon owners should treat their arms with extreme care.
