Chennai: Top 3 Plus-2 ranks go to students from districts
Chennai: The state recorded the highest pass percentage ever with 91.4% of students clearing the plus 2 exams this year. Again, girls outperformed the boys.
Compared to last year (90.6%), there has been a slight improvement of 0.8% in the pass percentage this year. V.Aarthi and K.H. Jeshwanth from Sri Vidya Mandir Matriculation higher secondary school, Uthangarai, Krishnagiri emerged as the state toppers scoring 1,195 marks out of 1,200. G.Pavithra from Shree Niketan Matriculation HSS, Tiruvallur and V.S. Veanupreetha from SKV HSS in M Kandampalayam in Namakkal secured second and third ranks with 1,194 and 1,193 marks respectively.
The directorate of government examinations declared the Plus-2 results on Tuesday morning. Out of 8.33 lakh students appearing through schools, 7.61 lakh students (91.4%) cleared the exam. Among the girls, the pass percentage is 94.4% and, as usual, fewer boys cleared the exams at 87.9% pass percentage.
Nearly five lakh students secured 60% of the marks in the Plus-2 public exams. This year the centum in Physics reduced from 125 last year to just 5.
In Maths, it reduced from 9,710 in last year to 3,361 this year.
