Hyderabad: Owners get stolen cash, gold back
Hyderabad: A property mela, where the property recovered in crime investigations was distributed among victims, was organised by the Rachakonda police on Wednesday. 120 tolas of gold ornaments recovered by the police were handed over to the concerned victims. Cash and ornaments worth Rs 41 lakh were distributed.
This was Telangana’s first ever property mela, said police officials.
Usually, after stolen property is recovered, the police deposit the same in the concerned courts. However, although the offence gets detected, the complainants remain dissatisfied for they do not retrieve their lost property.
In light of the issue, the Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said, “In February 2019, the CCS Rachakonda police apprehended an inter-state house burglary gang led by Bharat Bansal and Mathura Prasad. We found 21 cases and recovered 94 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 31,50,000. All the recovered property was deposited in the concerned courts. Of all such recoveries, the property belonging to 11 cases has been handed over to victims.”
During January 2019, the police apprehended 13 property offenders, detected 12 cases, and recovered 62.88 tolas of gold.
