Campaign in Krishnagiri ends with 2 government staff suspended

In Krishnagiri, the poll campaign ended without any untoward incident in both Krishnagiri Parliament and Hosur assembly constituencies.

KRISHNAGIRI: Two government staff of the district education department were placed under suspension on Tuesday for campaigning in support of AIADMK's rival group, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK). They are Nagaraj, officer in the assistant elementary education department for Kelemangalam education division in Denkannikottai taluk of Krishnagiri, and Jayaprakash, a teacher in the government school at Kaveripattinam. Both were campaigning for the candidates fielded by the AMMK for the Krishnagiri Lok Sabha and Hosur by-polls.

They were placed under suspension following a complaint given to the district election officer. During enquiry, it was found that they had violated the norms meant for government staff.

S.A.Sathya of the DMK, S.Jyothi of the AIADMK and others contested the polls for the Hosur by-election held after the resignation of former AIADMK minister P.Balakrishna Reddy. He had to quit due to a court order that convicted him for damaging public property. S.Chellakumar of the Congress was fielded as the candidate for Krishnagiri Parliament constituency against AIADMK leader K. P. Munusamy. In Dharmapuri, S. Senthil Kumar and Anbumani Ramadoss, both doctors by profession, contested for the Parliament seat. Anbumani Ramadoss of the PMK was elected from here in 2014 and re-contested. Senthil Kumar, a new face was fielded by the DMK.
