Telangana: Affidavit filed in female foeticide case

He said the city police commissioner will ensure that the nursing home is not permitted to operate till further court orders.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Tuesday informed the Hyderabad High Court that the police have arrested the proprietors and supervisor of the Gayatri Nursing Home in Singareni Colony at Saidabad in the case of alleged crushing of female foetus with hands during abortions in the nursing home.

The principal secretary of medical, health and family welfare submitted an action taken report before a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K. Vijaya Lakshmi.

The police after investigation arrested Sarwarunnisa, supervisor who performed the abortion and Dr Rachna Singh Thakur , director of nursing home and Dr Kiran Kumar Chowhan, administrator and rem-anded to judicial custody.

The principal secretary told the court that the sex of foetus was not known to the supervisor and the pregnancy was terminated at the instructions of the director and administrator. He said the city police commissioner will ensure that the nursing home is not permitted to operate till further court orders.
