Chennai: Scores of photos that flooded the social media on Tuesday wrongly depicting the BJP Mahila Morch leader Jessy Muralidharan as Assistant Professor Nirmala Devi and accusing the latter of having links with the BJP leaders has shocked the saffron party here.
Numerous photos of Jessy Muralidharan, who was former south Chennai district president (Mahila Morcha) were circulated in the social media claiming her to be Nirmala Devi who allegedly tried to lure some girl students to indulge in sexual favours for higher officials in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU). “This is absurd. This is the way the mischief mongers are treating the BJP women leaders portraying them in poor light,” BJP senior M. Chakravarthy said and condemned the incident.
Another functionary in the party claimed Jessy Muralidharan’s character was being willfully assassinated and abused allegedly by DMK social media and a Muslim outfit, with ulterior motive. The party retorted by posting Jessy’s photograph with DMK’s T. K. S. Elangovan, when she was in the DMK years ago, and claimed that the DMK is abusing her.
Party’s south Chennai district president Dolphin Sridhar told DC that a Muslim outfit had gained access to the facebook page of Ms. Jessy and splashed them in the social media to tarnish the image of the BJP. “We have taken it very seriously.
Today our Mahila Morcha president of south Chennai, Rama, had filed a complaint with the Virugambakkam police and I will lodge a complaint with the DGP on Wednesday seeking action on the trouble-makers,” Mr. Sridhar said.
Party’s Tirunelveli district general secretary T. V. Suresh too had preferred a complaint with the cyber crime police.
