Chennai: Health minister C. Vijayabaskar and Dr. S. Geetha Lakshmi, vice-chancellor of Dr MGR Medical University, appeared before I-T officials for a fresh round of interrogation in connection with a tax evasion probe.
The duo had appeared as per the directions issued to them by the department for further questioning. Earlier, income tax officials had conducted searches at the premises of Vijayabaskar, actor-politician Sarathkumar, his wife and actor Radhika and Geetha Lakshmi.
All of them have been separately questioned by the I-T sleuths since April 10. The searches led to seizure of dossiers pertaining to bribing of voters in the RK Nagar Assembly constituency, which fell vacant following the demise of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. The by-election, which was due on April 12, was subsequently rescinded by the Election Commission.
