Remove all shops from the canal bed land, orders Hyderabad High Court

The petitioners claimed that they are the owners of small house plots near the canal bed.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has directed the Madanapalle Munic-ipality to clear encroachers from the canal bed land in the town within nine months as it was inconveniencing the public.

Justice Challa Kodandaram was disposing off two petitions by Y. Venkata Ramana Naidu and others seeking to declare the action of the Madanapalle Municipality in not considering their representations for removing the structures made by third parties on the bed of Boreddy Kaluva near Bengaluru bus stand in the town as illegal.

The petitioners claimed that they are the owners of small house plots near the canal bed. They told the court that on the canal bed, a large number of encroachments have been made by various persons and they have put up tin sheds and were carrying on businesses. The municipality contended that the land was classified as Gorrela Poramboke and it is government land.
