Osmania University assistant professor is hired and fired
Hyderabad: Despite High Court’s interim orders to the Osmania University to retain an assistant professor in the department of business management, she is allegedly not being allowed to perform her duties and has not received her salary since February 2014. On September 23, 2013, when Dr B. Archana reported for the job, she was handed a letter cancelling her appointment. No reason was given.
Dr Archana claimed the that the university had appointed someone else, who is still working in the same post. Since then, Dr Archana has been fighting her case. Apart from the cost, she says she is being subjected to mental agony. Asked about Dr Archana’s case, OU registrar Gopal Reddy said, “As per my knowledge the earlier administration had given the appointment letter by mistake. It was given to Dr Archana instead of the some other candidate. I agree that it’s a mistake but they realised their mistake immediately and issued her a letter cancelling the appointment.”
Dr Archana then moved the High Court. “I secured interim orders to the university to continue me in the post. After this, registrar suspended the cancellation orders.” Dr Archana said she was reporting to the university every day but was not being allotted any work. She said the university had paid her salary for four months and stopped it later.
Dr Archana said the university had told her that it could not take any further action regarding until the court disposed off her petition. “Even after three years, the case has not come up for hearing, due to which I am not getting justice.” She suspected a conspiracy by the university to retain the other candidate in the post. “I want justice to restore my livelihood to face the severe hardships I am facing due this injustice done to me,” Dr Archana said.
