BJP demands thorough investigation on AIADMK deal
CHENNAI: Terming the alleged “deal struck” by the AIADMK Amma leader to reclaim the party’s Two Leaves symbol from the Election Commission as “disgraceful,” the state unit of the BJP has demanded a thorough probe into the “deal” and appropriate action on all those involved in it. Regretting that the AIADMK founded by former Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran had “resorted to dishonest means” to get back the Two Leaves symbol which was given by MGR, BJP State president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that party has repeatedly been bringing “disgrace” to the State. “First it was corruption during election. Now, they have resorted to bribe the officials to regain the party symbol. This is shameful. With numerous scams surfacing by the day, the AIADMK has forfeit the moral right to rule the State,” she said.
Speaking to reporters after garlanding the statue of freedom fighter and Tamil chieftain Dheeran Chinnamalai (April 17, 1756 – July 31, 1805) (on his birth anniversary) who defied the British, she said the AIADMK appeared not to have learnt a lesson when the Election Commission had repeatedly cancelled the elections in Tamil Nadu.
Let DMK list out its achievements:
Flaying the opposition DMK for “feigning” concern for the farmers’ plight and particularly the announcement on calling for TN bandh on April 25, Dr. Tamilisai dared the DMK to list out the measures it had taken to improve the water resources when it was in power. “What did they do for farmers’ welfare? Did they improve the water resources? When in power, the party had done precious little and now that it is in opposition, it has taken up the farmers' issue with ulterior motive,” she said.
BJP protest today:
The saffron party will stage a State-wide agitation protesting against the brutal attack on Eswari by the police official and also demanding the closure of all the TASMAC outlets in Tamil Nadu. The agitations will be held in front of 500 TASMAC shops on April 18.
