704 stations upgraded, says South Central Railway GM Vinod Kumar Yadav

All the 704 railway stations under his zone were upgraded with minimum passenger amenities.

Hyderabad: The general manager of South Central Railway on Monday said that all the 704 railway stations under his zone were upgraded with minimum passenger amenities.In a press release issued on Monday, the SCR general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said that 68 railway stations were upgrade in infrastructure and passenger amenities followed by reaching the landmark in all the 704 stations with an estimation of Rs 68.29 crore.

“We have focused on all the five A1 category stations which are earning more than Rs 60 crore of revenue per annum followed by 31 stations under A-category (Rs 8 crore to Rs 60 crore) in initial stage and later developed infrastructure at other five categories. We have provided the amenities including booking facility, drinking water, waiting halls, seating arrangement, platform shelter, toilets, Foot-Over-Bridge, time table display, water coolers, public address system, parking-cum-circulation area, electronic train indication boards,” he said. SCR has also posted an 8.36 per cent growth in freight traffic in March this year, by loading 9.44 million tonne freight compared to 8.36 per cent in corresponding month in 2016.
