BENGALURU: The Hulimavu police, who are investigating the suicide of a 27-year-old man who posted two videos on Facebook before taking the extreme step, have said the preliminary probe revealed that the deceased person had pestered the woman to marry him.
Police said that Arun Kumar, a resident of Weavers Colony off Bannerghatta Road, was in love with a 23-year-old software engineer, who had clearly told him to stay away from her. “The woman’s uncle, a teacher, was Arun’s neighbour. Arun had met the woman when she visited her uncle’s house once a few years ago. They both were friends initially and Arun had reportedly fallen in love with her several months ago. He had proposed to marry her, but she had turned it down,” an official said.
As Arun kept on pestering her, the woman’s family had filed a complaint against him in Mico Layout police station in January. “The police had summoned Arun for questioning and he was left after a stern warning. Even after that, he did not mend his ways and was forcing the woman to marry him. Fed up with his behaviour, the girl’s uncle, who was staying close to Arun’s house, had recently warned Arun to stay away from the woman,” the official added.
The police also said that Arun had no steady job and worked as a drill instructor in a school, whenever the school authorities required his services. The police, who have registered an abetment to suicide case, are yet to question the woman and her family members in this connection. Meanwhile, the post-mortem was conducted on Sunday and the body was handed over to Arun’s family members.
Video goes viral
Meanwhile, the two videos uploaded by Arun on his Facebook account had gone viral on Sunday. He had posted the videos just a few minutes before he was found hanging in his house around 3.30 pm on Saturday. Police said that the video was recorded 2-3 days ago, but are analysing his mobile phone to know the exact time.
In one video, Arun has spoken about his love for the woman. In the video he has said that he was taking the extreme step as the woman did not want to marry him and was responsible for his suicide. He had also accused her uncle of assaulting him. While in the other video, he has spoken about his love for the country and has apologised to his mother for taking the extreme step. Both the videos have gone viral with thousands of people watching it.
