HYDERABAD: The TS Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) with the support of the Nalsar University of Law is scheduled to launch the first-ever Agri Legal Aid Clinic in Telangana in Bammera village in Palakurthy mandal in Nalgonda district on Saturday.

It will educate and create legal awareness among the farmers on various agriculture laws and farmer beneficial and welfare schemes which are intended for their overall upliftment.

This clinic will be manned by the trained Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) of the Legal Services Institutions, who will educate and create legal awareness among farmers.

Supreme Court judge Justice V. Ramasubramanian will inaugurate virtually the clinic in the presence of Supreme Court judges Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar and Telangana High Court Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, the patron-in-chief of the TSLSA, and High Court judge Justice P. Naveen Rao.

A media statement issued by TSLSA said that the cultivation goes on smoothly and farmers can earn better returns from the agriculture and allied sectors when they understand the scope of the legislations, and benefits of the schemes and utilise them for redressal of their problems associated with cultivation.

It stated that there are several legislations, schemes, programmes and plans for the benefit and welfare of the farmers. Agricultural legislations are enacted to protect and safeguard the interests of the farming community Several welfare schemes and programmes for the benefit and welfare of the farmers are also being implemented in the state in order to revitalise the agriculture sector and improve the overall conditions of the farmers.

However, the advantages of these initiatives and schemes have not reached the majority of the farming community as envisaged due to a lack of legal awareness and understanding, it noted.
