Hyderabad: Residents file plaint against illegal parking

Residents have made several complaints earlier as well to the GHMC, but no action has been taken.

Hyderabad: Residents of Musheerabad have taken to the streets to voice their protest against illegal parking and footpath encroachment in their area near a cafe, situated on the main road. They have a number of complaints about the cafe too.

They have also started a signature campaign and complained to the GHMC about the hardships that they are facing, after the entire stretch turned into an unauthorised parking bay. Minors can be often found smoking in the illegal parking lot.

“At times even during a medical emergency, there isn’t enough place for an ambulance to come through and the patient needs to walk down the street or someone has to carry them till there. Cab drivers and auto rickshaws do not even consider entering and usually leave passengers on the road,” a senior citizen, Mr M. Shareef said.

Residents also complained of drainage overflow from kitchens and alleged that there was no separate drainage line for the restaurant and it has been included in the residential line. Residents have made several complaints earlier as well to the GHMC, but no action has been taken.

With the hotel lacking its own dedicated parking space, many times customers tend to park in the bylane beside it, choking the street for the residents. At times, the residents are unable to move their own vehicles from their homes. The backdoor of the restaurant opens into the street beside the cafe, because of which trucks and autos keep coming to transport groceries and halt for hours together.

Adding to this, a RC roof pan shop has been constructed allegedly on the footpath, which has become an unofficial joint for smokers, anti social elements and people keep hanging out till late night, disrupting the peace of the residential area.

As of now, the cafe is under renovation and residents are worried that their troubles will increase and have urged GHMC to act on it soon.
