Hyderabad: Cement chips from ceiling in Osmania General Hospital building falls off

A senior doctor said the falling cement pieces were a regular problem.

Hyderabad: In a repetition of earlier incidents, chips of the ceiling fell off in the old building at Osmania General Hospital on Saturday afternoon. The chips fell in the administrative wing of the Superintendent. Administrative staff occupies the office, where the incident occurred. The staff ran out of the room and the doctors from adjoining chambers came in as they heard the commotion in the building.

A senior doctor said the falling cement pieces were a regular problem.

“This has been happening since the last three years and we have now got accustomed to running away. The situation is precarious but the government has not made any alternate arrangements to shift the patients and till that is done we have to continue working in this environment,” he said.

Health minister Etala Rajendar has asked doctors to look into options and suggest where the patients can be shifted.

But, the doctors say that till the government identifies the location there is little that they can do.
