Caught on camera: HD Kumaraswamy’s SUV breaks traffic rules

While the cops have sent the notices, the CM is yet to pay the fine, the police said.

Bengaluru: If you are influential, you may use it to avoid being booked for traffic rules violations. But you cannot mess with the technology. The best example for this is Chief Minister Kumaraswamy being booked for two traffic violations after automated enforcement cameras caught his private SUV violating the rules in February this year.

The city traffic police have sent two notices to the address of Mr Kumaraswamy with a total fine of Rs 300, which were automatically generated by the enforcement cameras.

The offences include using mobile phone while driving caught by a camera on Feb. 10 and another of speeding near Basaveshwara Circle on Feb. 22. The offences were recorded by the automated enforcement cameras and the notices were generated and sent to the address of Kasturi Media, which is mentioned in the vehicle documents.

While the cops have sent the notices, the CM is yet to pay the fine, the police said.

Mr Kumarswamy is using his personal car for official work and continues to live in his J.P. Nagar home, instead of the government car and bungalow near Vidhana Soudha.
