YSRC MLAs on a vacation to Bali

Jagan's abstains from proceedings, workers decide to party.

KURNOOL: With the decision of YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to abstain from participating in the proceedings of Andhra Pradesh legislature, 44 MLAs who were loyally marching with their leader and finding excuses to stage dharnas and sit-ins have become a dull lot as they are searching for avenues to rejuvenate themselves. They skipped party programmes on Monday to stage dharnas in front of the collectorate and preferred enjoying themselves, said a leader.

With no one attending the assembly, MLAs are going on a vacation to by the dozen to Hong kong, Bali and Macau. Kadapa district has seven MLAs still loyal to YSRC, followed by three MLAs from Kurnool and a good number of MLAs from Chittor districts. All of them are said to be cooling their heels in Bali. They left Hyderabad on Friday night by Thai Airways. Two MLAs left on Saturday following the detention of Adoni MLA Sai Prasad Reddy from whose person the CISF security found four live bullets. The contingent includes several YSRC state-level leaders like general secretaries.

A few Kadapa MLAs have been dropping out of the tour in the last minute, said a person in the know. Rayachoti MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, when contacted said that he was not a part of this adding that he was against such trips. “We have a lot of party work to do,” he added. Seema MLAs have left their families back home and have gone alone, said a woman MLA whose husband was also on the tour.

When questioned who would sponsor the trip, she said that Rajya Sabha MP V. Prabhakar Reddy has promised to foot the bill. It is also learnt that fearing a contest for Rajya Sabha MP seat, YSRC candidate Mr V. Prabhakar Reddy had taken most of the MLAs to Nepal, Khatmandu and Bhutan. As the election went unanimous, all MLAs returned last week, said a member of the team.
