Light showers expected in Chennai

Maximum and Minimum temperature is likely to be around 31 and 24 degreess Celsius, respectively in next 48 hours.

CHENNAI: While short spells of rain brought around 32 mm of rainfall to the city ending 8.30 am on Saturday, other districts including Vellore, Krishnagiri, Karur and Salem received widespread rains. Tirupattur in Vellore district received a highest of 8 cm of rainfall, followed by Omalur in Salem district that received 7 cm of rainfall.

Several northern districts including Tiruvallur, Viluppuram, Vellore received a moderate rainfall of 6 cm, while western districts of Salem, Krishnagiri and Namakkal also received a rainfall of around 4 cm.

The Regional Meteorological Center has predicted that light to moderate rainfall in northern districts is likely while Chennai may receive light showers in the next 24 hours. The Met Director, S. Balachandran, said, “Thunderstorm with gusty winds likely to occur at isolated places over interior Tamil Nadu. The sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy, with light spells of rain or likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and Minimum temperature is likely to be around 31 and 24 degreess Celsius, respectively in next 48 hours.”
