Hyderabad railway police arrest repeat offender

Police recovered gold weighing 59 tolas worth '18 lakh from his possession.

Hyderabad: A 43-year-old plumber turned notorious offender, who looted passengers on moving trains, was arrested by the railway police at Secunderabad on Saturday. Police recovered gold weighing 59 tolas worth '18 lakh from his possession. It was found that he had invested the stolen money in horse racing in Mumbai and Hyderabad and also in local gambling.

Superintendent of railway police, Secunderabad, G. Ashok Kumar, said that he was arrested for his involvement in ten bag lifting cases in Mahbubnagar and Vikarabad railway police station limits.

“During checks at railway stations on Saturday morning, Siddiqui was found moving suspiciously and when checked, he was found carrying gold ornaments.

After inquiry, the gold was seized and later upon confession, a part of stolen gold was recovered from his residence at MS Maqtha at Rajbhavan road.

He was earlier arrested by the Vikarabad railway police. He was produced before the court and sent to remand.
