Telangana's DGP for anti-sex abuse kiosks in schools

Both school teachers and parents must monitor children and provide help if a child falls prey to such of-fences.

Hyderabad: Telangana’s Director General of Police, Anurag Sharma, is concerned about child sexual abuse in online forums and advised schools to install kiosks at the school premises, where children can access a helpline and complain privately any sexual abuse they encounter.

He said online child sexual abuse has become a trend now with the widespread access of the internet and perverts lurk in the cyber-world to target children.

DGP Sharma was addressing a conference on prevention of online child sexual abuse at Dr Marri C-hanna Reddy Human Reso-urce Development Institu-te. He emphasised the imp-ortance of teachers when it comes to helping children deal with the problem of sexual abuse because after parents, children listen to their teachers.

“Modern parents provide all kinds of electronic gadgets to their children, who can access everything available online. Earlier, children used to go out and play with their friends, but now they are making online friends and interacting with them online without leaving their homes.”
