YSRC Congress MLA Roja's arrival leads to high drama at House

The YSRC camp was tense about whether she would be allowed inside.

Hyderabad: There was high Drama at the AP Assembly on Thu-rsday as suspended YSRC MLA R.K. Roja arrived with court orders allowing her to attend the ongoing Budget Session.

Police and woman marshals were deployed in large numbers as tense situation mounted before her arrival. While the House was adjourned, the YSRC camp was tense about whether she would be allowed inside.

After arriving, Ms Roja went to the office of Assembly secretary Mr Satyanarayana and submitted the court order. YSRC MLAs organised a grand welcome to Ms Roja who said that she would attend the ongoing Budget Session from Friday.

Meanwhile, the YSRC demanded the resignation of legislative affairs minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu for moving the suspension motion against Ms Roja.

Though MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy demanded the ruling TD to implement the court orders, MLA Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao told the media that the court order would not make a difference to the Speaker's decision as the judiciary had only limited powers to interfere with the Legislature.

Stating that the YSRC need not celebrate the court decision, Mr Rao added, "The Constitution clearly says the decision of the House can't be questioned."
"Yanamala Ramakrishnudu had rejected a court order in a similar case when he was speaker of AP Assembly. We will take steps to see that her suspension continues," said the TD leaders.

Meanwhile YSRC cadres and leaders of the Nagari constituency celebrated the HC orders by distributing sweets and bursting crackers.

HC verdict a slap on face of TD: Roja

Reacting to the High Court’s interim judgement, YSRC MLA R.K. Roja said that law has prevailed. She said the HC decision is a slap on the face of the ruling party.

“The HC decision is a slap on the face of the treasury benches which were bent on gagging the voice of a woman,” she said. Ms Roja added that her faith in the judiciary has been doubled with the High Court's order suspending her suspension.

"I firmly believe that justice prevailed in the end," she said. Supreme Court Lawyer Indira Jaising hailed the Court judgement calling it a fitting
answer to those who violated the Constitution. She said the Assembly secretariat would be informed through an email that Ms Roja can attend the AP Assembly Sessions from Thursday.
