Rs 12,000 crore for Telangana roads: Tummala Nageshwara Rao
Hyderabad: As many as 145 mandal headquarters of the 451 mandals in TS are not connected by double-lane roads to the district headquarters while two district headquarters — Nizamabad and Khammam — have no four-lane connectivity to Hyderabad.
Roads and Buildings minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao told the Legislative Assembly on Thursday that the state government has decided to spend Rs 12,000 crore to give a major facelift to roads in TS this year.
He said the government will spend Rs 110 crore on an average on roads in every Assembly constituency. “The government has already approved 139 works to connect these 145 mandals to district headquarters with double lane connectivity covering a length of 1,883 km costing Rs 2,504 crore. The works have been entrusted to contractors and are in various stages of completion,” the minister said.
