Lucknow: The Shaktiman episode may have earned a great deal of flak for the BJP MLA who allegedly hit the animal, but it has woken up the Uttar Pradesh government to the need for giving police horses a good life.
The Akhilesh government, after 68 years, is now preparing a rule manual for horses in the police force but it also specifying a nutritious diet for them.
The Uttar Pradesh police, at present, have 330 horses, some of them being thoroughbred horses.
