Aircraft force-lands in AP

Two persons in the aircraft including the pilot were in the aircraft at the time of the emergency landing and both were safe, police said.

Anantapur: Taking locals by surprise, a two-seater aircraft made an emergency landing in the agriculture fields of Eradikera village in Brahmasamudram mandal of Anantapur district on Monday. It was stated that the aircraft suffered a technical defect which necessitated the emergency landing.

Two persons in the aircraft including the pilot were in the aircraft at the time of the emergency landing and both were safe, police said.

The aircraft belonged to the Jindal Steels unit Thoranagal in Karnataka’s Ballari district and was flying from Mysore. The pilot noticed leakage of fuel from the aircraft and decided to land the aircraft in the agricultural fields. The village is close to the Karnataka border.

The aircraft did not suffer signifcant damage, sources said.The Kalyandurgam police was alerted by locals about the emergency landing and rushed to the spot. Police personnel have been posted there to guard the aircraft. It will be shifted after experts arrive from Jindal Steels unit, police said.
