Love jihad' helpline in making

Hadiya's father, Fathima's mother fault state for inaction'.

Thiruvananthapuram: A helpline will be launched to help victims of Love Jihad and their families, said K.M Asokan, father of Hadiya (Akhila) who converted to Islam and married Shefin Jehan, and K. Bindu, mother of Nimisha (who converted to Islam and called herself Fathima) who had gone missing with her husband, Issa, who converted from Christianity to join ISIS. Addressing a press conference at Ernakulam Press Club on Saturday, they said that an association of parents who lost their children due to Love Jihad would be formed soon.

“Justice is denied to us. The state government and the police are negligent towards the issue and therefore are indirectly supporting the Islamic terrorists. Hence, we are compelled to form an association of parents of victims of Love Jihad which will work for the rights of such people,” said K.M Asokan. “The main motive of the association will be creating awareness among the general public on the impact of forcible religious conversion. There should not be another Love Jihad victim in Kerala and parents should protect their daughters as the authorities never take the issue seriously,” he added.

Though the police and NIA inquiries had exposed the names of individuals and organisations behind the forcible religious conversion, no action had been taken against them, alleged K. Bindu. “Even those who are suspected of having terrorist links are roaming free in society. The government’s inaction will encourage the agents of terror groups,” she alleged.
