Drones to be made in Andhra Pradesh
Visakhapatnam: Stage is set for the commercial manufacturing of ‘Made in Andhra Pradesh’ drones from the port city. After a thorough Research and Development (R&D), the AP Innovation Society (APIS) powered by Delhi-based robotics and drone technology company Omnipresent is going for its commercial manufacturing from March end or April this year. And to promote the drone making skills, the APIS conducted a drone innovation seminar on Saturday, imparting knowledge to the students of various colleges across Andhra Pradesh at the Sunrise Incubation Centre at Rushikonda.
Omnipresent will run the manufacturing unit and could make about 25 drones every month. The drones equipped with latest and advanced technologies will be sold not only to state government departments but also to all prospective buyers in the market. All the establishment costs and employee salaries will be borne by the state government and the company will recruit people from the state and run the unit.
“Depending on the configuration like lens, accessories and range of its operation, the price will be decided but it could be cheaper than ones available in the market. The battery back-up and camera quality of the drones are of superior quality,”said APIS CEO Prof V. Valli Kumari. The drone innovation seminar was attended by around 50 students from various colleges from the state. The participants learnt theoretical and practical aspects of drone making and given a chance to make prototype drones. They were told about penetration of drone in Indian market.
