Andhra Pradesh government fails to demand SCS: Jairam Ramesh
TIRUPATI: “Andhra Pradesh government failed in demanding the centre for implementation of re-organisation act,” said Ex-Union minister Mr Jairam Ramesh. Ex-union minister and Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who played a crucial role in the state bifurcation and preparing the Re-organisation Act has slammed the state and Central government. He alleged that BJP and Telugu Desam are responsible for the injustice done to Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Ramesh attended a meeting organised by Tirupati Ex-MP Chinta Mohan at Ambedkar Bhavan in Tirupati on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, Mr Jairam Ramesh said, “It has been four years since bifurcation. Both BJP and TD government say that the bifurcation was not done scientifically. But, no modifications were made to the Re-organisation Act until now. If Andhra Pradesh Chief Minster N. Chandrababu Naidu fights with the Centre for modifying the Re-organisation Act, then Congress will definitely support TD government.”
“Telugu Desam and NDA governments in the state and Centre respectively has failed to implement the Re-organisation Act. BJP and TD are doing drama in front of the public. The Re-organisation Act which was approved by the Parliament and promises given by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were completely neglected by the NDA government,” he added.
Adding further, he said, “If the Re-organisation Act was implemented properly then Andhra Pradesh would have many developed cities like Hyderabad. Polavaram project has become a boon to the state government. A person who came from a poor farmers family is now the richest Chief Minister in the country.” He has also said that the bifurcation was done after studying all elements from Srikakulam to Ananthapuram.
“The bifurcation would have benefited Andhra Pradesh more than Telangana. The investments would still flow to Hyderabad if the bifurcation is not done. Now BJP and TD should stop this game and work to help Andhra Pradesh. The Congress would come to power in the Centre by 2019 and will work for the benefit of this state,” he concluded.
