New Delhi: The Election Commission on Friday issued a notice to V.K Sasikala over her appointment as the interim general secretary of the AIADMK and asked her to send a reply latest by February 28.
The EC notice came a day after V. Maitreyan of the O. Paneerselvam camp led a 12-member delegation to the commission claiming that Sasikala’s appointment was illegal as the AIADMK constitution does not have any provision for the appointment of an interim general secretary.
The delegation had met Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi and other top officials, and submitted a memorandum demanding that it decline Sasikala’s approval to her elevation to the top party post.
“The commission has directed that your reply on the aforesaid petitions may be furnished latest by February 28 failing which it will be presumed that you have no comments to offer and the commission will take appropriate action in the matter,” the notice said.
