Bengaluru cabbies' protest: Meeting with transport department officials today

Meanwhile, the state government is planning to write to the central government seeking action against the aggregators.

Bengaluru: The tug-of-war between cab aggregators and their drivers continued on Friday with a few drivers continuing their protest. The transport department, meanwhile, called for a meeting on Saturday to resolve the issues.

Mr Ramesh, a member of the Bruhat Bengaluru Taxi Drivers' Union, said that on Friday the protest was withdrawn after a few hours because of the ongoing air show. "Our demand before these companies is to fix meters and pay as per the guidelines issued by the transport department. Now, cab aggregators are exploiting the drivers in several ways," he said. "On Saturday, the transport commissioner has called for a meeting of all the stakeholders. We will take a decision on our next course of action after the meeting," he said.

Meanwhile, the state government is planning to write to the central government seeking action against the aggregators. "They are not following any rules, but are eyeing only profits,” commented a transport department official.
