Kozhikode to get Rs 17 crore for improving water supply lines
Kozhikode: In an attempt to solve the water supply problems in the City, the existing pipelines will be renovated using the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) funds. The Core committee for implementation of the AMRUT project in the City has decided to earmark Rs 17 crore for the purpose.
Speaking to DC, Kozhikode Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Meera Darsak said that the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) had expressed interest in renovating the pipelines and work would start soon after the detailed project was approved. “The KWA has given the proposal and they are preparing a project report,” she said.
AMRUT City Mission Management Unit Urban Planner Saleena. T said that the Core committee headed by the Deputy Mayor was meeting every two weeks to assess the progress of the project. “Within two weeks, the consultant will be decided for the state-level implementation of the AMRUT and detailed project reports for its implementation in selected cities will be started,” she added.
The Sewerage work in the City would get Rs 45 crore and the urban storm water drainage projects will get Rs 6.1 crore in the AMRUT scheme. Mananchira has been selected for a Rs 85 lakh facelift.
